The Queen Square Reflex hammer was designed for the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases (today the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery) in Queen Square, London.

It was originally made from a bamboo grip in varying sizes (between 20 and 40 cm). Attached to this was a metal plate (diameter approx. 5 cm) with a rubber stop.

Today, the hammer is made with a plastic handle and has a tip for the testing of plantar reflexes. It is among the most popular reflex hammers.
