Disposable wood tongue depressors. For the application of balms and for inspection of the throat area.
The not sterile depressors can be sterilized and then be used antiseptically.
A mouth-spatula/-blade, also smear-/swab-blade, is usually a wooden blade with which the tongue is depressed, to better see into the throat and pharynx areas. It generally is meant for one-time use; however there are also plastic-versions and models for surgical applications.
Optically, the tongue depressor or mouth-blade resembles a wider ice-cream stick. Wooden blades are also used for other purposes, like crafts, the application of chemicals at the hair salon, and as splint in vetinary medicine.
